Artists for Kosovar Refugees: A Benefit Auction

Teo Spiller

He was born in 1965 in Ljubljana. He studied painting, did many computer-arts on the paper (had few exhibitions of it in Slovenia) and later begun doing net.art

His net.art works were exhibited on many international (media or computer) art festivals: Ostranenie (Dessau, Germany), film+arc graz (Graz, Austria), 4 times on Festival of computer arts (Maribor, Slovenia), Casa das Rosas web art contest (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil), Altamira cave (Mexico city, Mexico), Omnizone (New York, USA) and others.

His most known project is the "net.art.trade", where the negotiations about selling net.art work "Megatronix" to Ljubljana Municipal Gallery were made as an open international on-line forum (with many reputable participants from all over the world), where many questions about selling net.art were answered. New York Times Online wrote a large article about it.

His curent project, he does together with prof. Brian Goldfarb, called "banner.art competition", is about, if and how could the profitable mechanisms be aestheticised to that extension, that they could become an active part of the artwork.

This is the work Teo Spiller submitted for this auction: 15 YEARS.

More of his works can be seen at his page. There you can also find a more detailed bio.

How to buy net.art?

The work is not published on the web, so nobody could make a copy of it. I reserve the right, to keep one copy of the work for the public showing on the art festivals etc., but promise not to let it from my hands, so nobody can make a copy of it.

The buyer will get the copy on CD-ROM, the cover and the CD will be both signed, there will be the guarantee, signed by myself, that there is no other copy of this work available, except the one, I keep. There will be a kind of "licence agreement", that will specify the rights of the author and the buyer.

I suggest, that the buyer may do with the work whatever he wants, but he must in case of any public showing, putting on the web, selling copies of the work, showing or selling the printscreens of the work or any other public profitable or not-profitable showing or distributing of the work, he must clearly mark, that the author of this work is Teo Spiller and that his web address is http://www.teo-spiller.org. back
